Profiles¶
The Profiles menu is central to the functioning of your devices. This is where you define all the possible configurations you may want to apply to them.
Permissions
The following list includes all permissions tied to this MDM section and the impacts they have on the MDM interface or the MDM API.
You can pick and choose these permissions when creating a new Custom Role or MDM API token.

"Main" section¶
From the main section of the profile, you are able to:
- Name your profile
- Add a comment to that profile to inform your colleagues
- Set the sync frequency of devices (how often your devices contact the MDM)
- Define if a device should be in Production or Developer Mode
Danger
The Developer Mode, as the name indicates, should be used mostly by users who are creating Applications for your devices, in order to debug issues on the device while developing. This mode gives access to many restricted features on your device and should not be taken lightly. Usually, you should not deploy a device in this mode on the field, unless you have a very good reason to.
There are also some "Advanced settings", which you can toggle by clicking the text with said name:
- Define if Custom Identification should be set from the MDM or the Device
- Set the Language on the device (in case you have multilingual apps)
- Define if Time should be set by the device provided by the network (in which case you can set specific NTP Servers, other than the device's default ones)
- Set a specific Time Zone or let the device/network pick one
"Display & Sound" section¶
From this section, you are able to define:
- The Sleep interval (how long a device should retain its screen on before turning it off)
- The Stay Awake policy (how a device acts when charging)
There are also some "Advanced settings", which you can toggle by clicking the text with said name:
- Set a static Ring Volume that should be restored at each sync if modified on the device
- Upload a Boot Animation to be displayed while the device turns on (see this guide for more information).
A sub-section called Look & Feel allows you to pick which Branding Theme you want on your devices. Please refer to the Look & Feel section for more information.
"Connectivity" section¶
This section allows you to modify all connectivity settings on your device. They are the following:
- Wi-Fi
- Mobile Data
- NFC
- Bluetooth
- Location
"Applications" section¶
The Applications section, and the sub-sections below, allow you to manage:
- which Applications from your Library or from Famoco's Essential apps will be provisioned on your devices
- whether you want one of those applications to be set as "auto launch" (press here to see how it impacts your devices), by pressing the icon next to it
- the Whitelists policy devices will apply
- whether you want to deploy Application Configurations or not
- the App Store you might want to present to your users
Please refer to the linked sections for more information on each of these features.
"Software Update" section¶
This section allows you to pick which Software Update Policy will be associated with devices linked to this profile. Please refer to the Software Update section for more information.
"Geozone" section¶
This section allows you to pick which Geozone will be associated with devices linked to this profile. Please refer to the Geozones section for more information.
"OS Actions" section¶
These settings allow you to access more advanced features of the devices.
Autoboot¶
Allow the device to boot from power off state when it is plugged to a power source (without having to press the "on" button manually). Very useful in the case of unattended devices, where the device can turn on as soon as the current is passed through a cable plugged at all times to the device.
Display Notification Bar¶
By default, Famoco devices do not display the notification bar, as very few of our clients' business applications use notifications. However, with this setting, you may allow your users in the field to display the notification bar and access them.
USB "On-the-go" mode¶
If you use your device with an accessory, you may optionally pick one of the following options:
- OTG: the ability to provide current to an accessory
- OTG + Charging: the ability to provide current to an accessory and to charge your device at the same time
- OTG + Charging + Power Mode: the same as above plus the ability to:
- reduce the electrical consumption of the accessory plugged when it is not used, even if the screen is on (suspend mode)
- reduce the electrical consumption of the accessory if the screen goes off (sleep mode)
